Engels Bar & Brasserie

Ever since Café-Restaurant Engels opened its doors, in the early nineteen fifties, it has been a house hold name for the people of Rotterdam. Located in the iconic post war ‘Groothandelsgebouw’ Engels has been revitalized by Studio Linse for the Vermaat Group (Rijksmuseum, Mauritshuis), creating a symbiose between its flamboyant history and the present time by designing a timeless interior of openness, transparency and natural warmth. A combination of old and new furniture, the re-use of the fifties-wooden flooring and the new spectacular bar as a dramatic center piece are just some of the high lights that bring character to this eclectic spacious place where people are welcomed throughout the whole day, from the early morning untill the late evening.
