Het Scheepvaartmuseum
As one of the landmarks of the World Heritage listed old town of Amsterdam the National Maritime Museum (het Scheepvaartmuseum) showcases one of the largest and most notable maritime collections in the world. This and strong links to today’s society and the future inspired Studio Linse to a graphic and modern design approach that reorganises the welcoming areas. Lights, dynamic screens and clear lines inviting the guests, directing them to the shop and the main square with its famous glass roof. Glass covering and asymmetric lines in the counters echo the mystical surface of the seas while huge dynamic screens follow the monumental arcades to inform and direct to the different wind directions of the building and the different experiences the museum offers.
